Well, last night it happened. The President Elect was elected. I am not happy about it.
Not really much left to say.
Please, God, give me strength and understanding. I really need it today.

Monday Craziness!
So, it is Monday....nothing special, just Monday. My plan was to clean up the house a bit. (Which I have done!) I did some laundry. I have played online reading blogs, twittering, and looking at etsy stuff. You know, all the normal stuff.
I needed a few things and decided to run out to wally world. (It is close and cheap and the only place I know where I can buy oj, envelopes and CD-R's.)
So, as usual, I find myself wondering around, looking at all the stuff wally world sells. (Wally world, btw, is Wal-Mart).
Then, my phone rings. It is a temp agency I registered with last week. They had a job posted that sounded interesting and I decided to apply. Well, I interviewed for it on Thursday. I didn't feel that good about it. I didn't think I had prepared for it very well at all. By Friday (the next day) I had written it off to good interview practice for the future!
So - the lady is calling me from the temp place. They are offering me the job! What??!!
Are you sure? I am thinking this lady has accidentally called the wrong person. She can't mean they are offering this job to me.
But, low and behold, they are.
She called me almost 2 hours ago and I am still in shock!
There are a few things that will suck now. I will have to start getting up early again. I don't like mornings!
I will not have all this free time to play online and play with my dogs and do artsy-craftsy creative stuff. That kinda sucks!
Oh well....everything happens for a reason, right?
I am just praying that this works out well!
Until next time.

Happy Halloween!
I love Halloween. I think it is fun to dress up and be someone or something else for a day. Unfortunately, I haven't really dressed up or gone out anywhere fun for a long time now! :(
My fiance is not into dressing up or Halloween. That is definitely something I wish I could cure him of. Anyway...at least last year I dressed up and went to work as a dead person, with a nice big cut down my face.
This year I am not doing anything....so sad!
Anyway....on to something good.
I actually have a new found friend that is now following my sad little blog. Her name is June and she herself has a wonderful blog. http://juneshindesigns.blogspot.com/.
She also makes beautiful and sells it on her etsy site. I encourage you to go check it out and buy yourself something nice!
www.juneshin.etsy.com
Thanks for following me, June!
Well, lets see....I went and voted yesterday. I wanted to go ahead and get it out of the way. And, I got lucky somehow. I only waited in line for about 45 minutes! I thought that was pretty awesome. I have heard some people are waiting in lines up to 6 hours long!
I am struggling at the moment with my graphic design stuff. I really need to work on my skills. Or, really, I just need to get some skills. I really need to practice. And, I am having a hard time motivating myself. I should be practicing now and here I am blogging.
Well.....I think I will do more practicing - I need it.
Happy Halloween all!!

Tuesday Fun
I feel like I have a million things to do, and yet here I am blogging!
I took some clothes to the consignment store earlier. I was feeling all good about it. Clean up and out and maybe get some money from it. This was my first trip out there. Man, they are frigging picky. They won't take Levis, nothing for the home unless it is Christmas themed for now and you can't bring in anything in a bag. You have to bring stuff in in your arms! How dumb is that? I walked in with a ton of stuff and walked back out with like 80% of it. They actually kept an old Braves jacket that has never been worn and about 4 pairs of blue jeans. So, the next time the Disabled Vets are coming this way, they are going to get a great donation from me!!
I need to work on putting my marketing packets out. I am trying to get contract graphic design work. I have realized that working in a "corporate" environment is not for me. Actually, what I really want to do is to be able to make a living making and selling things in my etsy store. But, right after that, I would like to be a contract graphic designer who works from home and sets my own schedule. I know I can do it. I can't wait to get my certification from Emory. Then, I really will feel like I can do whatever I want to do!
It has taken me a long time to figure myself out - career wise anyway. I have a wonderful life that I love in all other aspects. It is just my career that is lacking and basically always has lacked. I suck at corporate games. I am not really that great working with a lot of women. I learned both of these the hard way. I am just a creative person who needs to do creative work. Whatever that may be. And, I am going to make this graphic design thing work if it kills me!
Ok - I do have other things I need to get to today. I have the second part of my InDesign class tomorrow! So - I will ya'll out later!

Rainy Friday
So, I am not as good at keeping up with this blog as I should be. I blogged on Monday and now it is Friday.
Well....this blog is basically for myself anyway...no one else seems to be reading it and that's ok!
Just went and dropped off some paperwork for a temp agency that has a job that could actually be cool for me. It is a marketing/graphic design position here in Peachtree City. It is a small office and I would get to run the whole show in terms of marketing and design. (At least it sounds that way). So, that could be cool!
I take my InDesign intermediate class next week. Actually it is Monday and Wednesday to be exact. I am looking forward to it. I have my new iMac and I am enrolled in the certification program for graphic design offered through Emory University. Now, the last thing I waiting on is my Adobe Creative Suite 4. I should have that in the next few weeks. Then, I will really be good to go! After 5 more classes, I will have my certification. Then, I hope to either find a really cool job as a graphic designer somewhere or maybe just find enough jobs here and there that I can be a contract player. Then, I could just work at home. That would be cool!
Man, it is already noon. How did that happen?
I started reading "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" and it is cool so far. Of course, it is Dickens, so what else would you expect? This is the last novel he wrote - well...he actually didn't finish it. Unfortunately, he died before he could finish it. Needless to say, this has caused a flurry of people to try and figure out how the ending of the story goes. Or, what they thought Dickens had in mind. I have to say it sucks that he didn't get to finish it. I would really like to know what he wanted to do with it.
Anyway....seeing as I have already missed half of the day, I have some things I need to do around the house.
Have a great weekend everyone.
P.S. - Please Dear Lord, let my Cowboys win tomorrow against Texas.
Go Pokes!!

Random thoughts
It has been a few days since I have been able to blog. Sometimes life just gets in the way! I did want to spend a little time on my blog today though - although I don't think anyone is even reading my blog yet - hopefully someone will come soon!
So, while I am waiting on the HVAC repair guy - here are some of my random thoughts! Enjoy!
* Being laid off from work sucks. Well, let me rephrase that - having to look for a new job sucks. Actually being at home and having time to spend on my new hobby business E Land Designs is great. I just hope I get some productive things done. Check out my etsy site at www.elanddesigns.etsy.com
* I am so unbelievably excited that my Cowboys are ranked #7 - I can't get over it! Now...if we can just get a win Saturday against Texas, then all will be right with the world! Go Pokes! I know you can do it!!
* Learning all the ends and outs of running an online business is daunting! But, hey, I am trying!
* Also getting really excited about getting my Graphic Design for Print certification from Emory University. I will be taking my second class next Monday. Sometime early next year I should have my certification. Watch out graphic design world - here I come!!
* Although I usually like Fall - I am still really longing for a nice beach somewhere. Paul and I hit Panama City back in July and it rained the entire time! I got jipped!
* Speaking and thinking of OSU and Stillwater - I really, REALLY want me some cheese fries from Joes. Here is a great article that Paul found and sent me a few days ago:
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/2008-10-15-eskimo-joes_N.htm
* Just wanted to take a moment and say how thankful I am for my health, my fiance, my family, and my friends. I am blessed more than I probably even realize. God is good!
Ok - that is about all I have time for today. The HVAC guy(s) should be here shortly. Gonna keep my fingers crossed that we will have heat again soon and that it won't cost us an arm and a leg!
Until next time!

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Today, on the second day of my blog, I thought I would write about something that I don't like - cancer.
I found out just yesterday that a girl I went to high school with has been battling breast cancer for more than a year now. Talk about a sick feeling. Someone who is my age (early 30's) should not be fighting breast cancer. It just isn't right! But, on the bright side, she looks wonderful and I know that she will overcome this horrible disease.
I have personally lost more than 10 family members and friends to cancer. I sincerely hope that one day we can look back on cancer the way we look back on polio today.
I wanted to post about cancer today, not to be a "Debbie Downer" or all doom and gloom. I wanted this to be a positive post. As a "glass half full" type of person, I have always looked for the silver lining in every situation. And, as bad as cancer is - I do think some good things can come from it. Actually, they are things that should just be anyway....why wait until something like cancer causes you to find it?
For example:
* Live each day like it is your last. Live life to the fullest. (I know you hear this all the time - but
you should live each day like it is your last - you truly never know.)
* Make sure that the people you love, know you love them. When I was 8, my grandfather
passed away. To this day it bothers me that I can't remember if I ever told him that I loved
him. I sure hope I did.
* Be the person that you want to be. Do the things that you want to do. Do what makes you
happy. Don't worry about what other people think. You only get one shot at life.
* Lastly, and maybe most importantly, if you are reading this and you are happy and healthy
right now, do whatever it takes to stay that way. By this I mean take care of yourself. Exercise
everyday. Eat your fruits and vegetables everyday. If you actually care about your life, you will
take care of yourself. Isn't it much better to live in such a way that you prevent disease from
ever happening in the first place? That is a million gazillion times better than actually getting a
disease and then having to fight it. The power of fruits and vegetables is amazing....and we just
don't eat enough of them. Eat right, exercise - it really is important. And, it is the best thing
you can do for yourself and those you love.
Ok - so I thought it might be good to post some links on stuff you might be interested in. Here they are:
This is a cool website that helps you track what you eat and how much you exercise. They are all about being healthy. Gotta love that! www.sparkpeople.com
This website has a nice collection of inspirational quotes. Couldn't we all use more of these?
